Errol Park Estate Wedding Photographer

As an experienced Perthshire wedding photographer, I’ve captured wedding photography at Errol Park Estate many times before, but my first glimpse of this spectacular Mansion House when I drive up the majestic tree lined drive, still takes my breath away every single time. Kaitlin and Jack chose a stunning location for their Autumn wedding in Scotland.

Errol Park Estate consists of 3,000 acres of Perthshire countryside, containing immaculate gardens and the Mansion House with its impressive façade and charming period interiors.

An upmarket and grand venue it really wowed Kaitlin and Jack’s guests. One of the many things I love about capturing wedding photography at Errol Park Estate, is that they offer exclusive use. Allowing my couples and their guests to really relax and explore this amazing Perthshire wedding venue.

On the day, I woke to a clear and sunny day and headed over to Errol Park to catch up with the two wedding parties who were getting ready in separate suites. Firstly, I caught up with Kaitlin and her bridal party who were very chilled and enjoying a glass of bubbly and a cheeky shot of limoncello. They were in the capable hands of Hair stylist Stef Finnegan and make-up artist Gill Sime.

I then caught up with Jack and his grooms party who were getting ready in another suite. The boys were keen to show me that their underwear matched their kilts, and were helping one another with their ties. In traditional Scottish dress hired from McCalls Highland Wear, they all looked very smart. And I got some great images of them outside on the front lawn.

Storytelling wedding photography in Perthshire

By this time guests had started to arrive and were welcomed by a traditional piper. Kaitlin was now ready and looked amazing in a gorgeous lace detail dress with a straight fitted skirt and a train. She bought it at Anna Rose Bridal, though it suited and fitted Kaitlin so well that it looked like it had been made with her mind. Kaitlin really suited being a bride. Her four bridesmaids looked elegant in sage green dresses and they all had gorgeous seasonal bouquets in autumnal colours created by florists The Rose Bud.

The wedding ceremony was held on the grand staircase. It made for a dramatic setting and presented me with some interesting angles to work with. Guests were seated at the bottom of the staircase which is naturally a dark part of the house but I used a non-obtrusive off camera flash to rebalance the light. And as you can see from the images below, the images I got of the ceremony were perfect.

Old Scottish buildings often have issues with light, so it’s always a good idea to hire a professional Scottish wedding photographer, who will have the equipment and the know-how to deal with it.

After a lovely ceremony, everybody headed outside for a fun confetti moment and a drinks reception. And making the most of the sunshine, I took some great images of the wedding party in the garden.

With their guests happily catered for, I quickly whisked Kaitlin and Jack away for a mini photoshoot around the gardens and grounds of Errol Park. I worked with the low dappled sunlight to produce some really romantic and creative portraits. And was really pleased with the images I got.

The wedding breakfast was held in Errol Park’s Stables building. This charming rustic space has a sociable circular layout and creative lighting that illuminates many of the original features. It leads out onto a pretty cobbled courtyard.

Guests were seated first so that Kaitlin and Jack could enjoy a rapturous entrance. Speeches were before food, which is always a good idea, and were all very well received. After the wedding breakfast, as guests happily milled about enjoying exclusive use of Errol Park Estate. I went on a short garden walk with Kaitlin and Jack to get some more creative portrait images of them. The ones I got were so romantic and really showed Errol Park’s gardens and grounds at their absolute best.

Evening celebrations started with the cutting of a stunning naked three-tiered wedding cake made by Cake 32 in Crieff. This was followed by a romantic first dance for Kaitlin and Jack to live musical accompaniment from the Platinum Band, who delighted Kaitlin and Jack’s guests with well-known songs, that quickly saw the dancefloor full. I braved the dancefloor myself to get some really fun images.

And with an outdoor firepit, tasty evening food and a fun photobooth (who doesn’t love a photobooth!). Kaitlin and Jack’s evening had everything it could possibly need for an epic celebration. Which was just as well, as they’re guests were really up for a party.
